Today, on May 1, 2011, Pope John Paul II has been declared Blessed. John Paul II was born on May 18, 1920 and Padre Pio died on September 23, 1968. They lived, for, while 48 years of earthly existence. me deeply engraved in my memory. I remember that day in 1948 when, on the evening of April 1, as a student at the Angelicum, I went to San Giovanni Rotondo to see Padre Pio and participate in the Mass and, if possible, confess to him. And just then I was lucky to see in person the man whose reputation for holiness spread throughout the world. And at that point I could exchange a few words with him.
The next day I could attend Mass, which lasted some time, and during which he saw in his face that was suffering a lot. I saw that in your hands - who celebrated the Eucharist - the places of the stigmas were covered with a black crust, however, I recorded this as something unforgettable.
It seemed that on the altar of San Giovanni Rotondo marked the sacrifice of Christ himself, the sacrifice without blood, but at the same time those wounds in his hands made them think about the sacrifice, the Crucified.
This is what I remember to this day, as I have before my eyes.
During the confession was that Padre Pio offered a clear and simple insight, addressing the penitent with great love.

Surely not, because deep spiritual communion that began between Karol Wojtyla and Padre Pio of Pietrelcina in "The evening of April 1" of 1948 can not be broken ever. These are the requests that John Paul II went to Padre Pio and today would raise the new Blessed:
